Medical Affairs and the PHC Physicians & Surgeons Society connects physicians with opportunities to gain leadership skills and be involved in discussions and decisions at PHC that affect physicians and patient care.

CURRENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

SAUDER BUSINESS SCHOOL PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP

We are pleased to once again have the opportunity to invite applications from current PHC Physician Leaders to participate in the Sauder Business School Physician Leadership Program (PLP).  The next cohort begins on January 23, 2020. These opportunities are only open to BC physicians and PHC holds a limited number of seats in the program.  In order to participate, you must be able to commit to attending all of the dates below.

Cohort 14  – Dates & Location 

UBC Robson Square, 800 Robson Street, C180

  • Module 1  – January 23-25, 2020
  • Module 2  – February 20-22, 2020
  • Module 3 – April 2-4, 2020
  • Module 4 – Presentations and Graduation – June 12, 2020

Now going into its 14th learning cohort, PHC Physicians who have participated in the past have spoken highly of the value of both the networking and learning.  Expressions of interest by PHC Physician Leaders should be sent to alevelt@providencehealth.bc.ca

NEW AND ASPIRING LEADERS:

Aspiring leaders are encouraged to look at courses offered by Joule, the learning subsidiary of the Canadian Medical Association. A full course catalogue can be found here: https://joulecma.ca/learn

Classroom and on-line learning courses include: Leading Change, Dollars and Sense, Effective Communications and Engaging Others.

Note that there scholarship funding available from the Doctors of BC for course fees.  Find the application form here

SSC PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT TRAINING

The Specialist Services Committee is offering scholarship funding for physicians as certificants or fellows of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada who are actively and independently practicing in BC.
