DESCRIPTION:We are happy to share that the next virtual series for Blood Transfusion Camp will be held on the following dates: \n\nWednesday\, January 17\, 2024\nWednesday\, January 31\, 2024\nWednesday\, February 14\, 2024\n\nNurse Practitioner (NP) Blood Transfusion Camp is a 3-day course offered to NPs who need hospital privileges for ordering blood and blood products in their acute\, ambulatory or community practice. We will be sharing the transfusion medicine videos prior to each session and it is the responsibility of the NP to review the videos and come prepared to the session with questions and to participate in facilitated case studies that are supported by hematopathologists. \n  \nIn order to ensure that we are equitable in the process of seat allocation\, we are asking everyone interested to complete the survey link of expression of interest by November 17\, 2023. \n  \nNurse Practitioner Blood Transfusion Camp – Expression of Interest \n  \nThere are limited seats that are available. Please note that for each new blood boot camp\, a separate expression of interest survey will need to be submitted.

DESCRIPTION:What is World Food Day? \nWorld Food Day (WFD) was founded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)\, a specialized agency of the United Nations in 1945. But it would be another 34 years before it was recognized as a world holiday at the 20th FAO conference in November 1979. Since then\, WFD has been observed annually\, every October 16\, since 1981.  \nIts purpose is to increase awareness of world hunger and poverty and to inspire solutions for world change\, including sustainable food systems and combating hunger worldwide. WFD highlights the millions of people worldwide who cannot afford a healthy diet and the need for regular access to nutritious food.  \nThis year’s WFD theme is “Water is life\, water is food. Committed to addressing everyday practical issues\, speakers present equally on current and special areas of concern to the primary healthcare professionals. \nI am interested in attending in person! \nJoin us at the Marriott hotel to enjoy a break from your clinics and network with your colleagues alongside enjoying excellent meals! By attending in person\, you also can choose from all of the available workshop options each day. You also will receive access to the recordings of the morning lectures and the two preselected hybrid workshops each day. SUMMARY:My Farewell to Emergency Medicine: A Journey with Dr. Sunil Mangal
DESCRIPTION:About the event:  \nAfter practicing emergency medicine for over 20 years as staff at St Paul’s Emergency\, Dr Mangal suffered a large stroke\, leaving him unable to walk and with left sided neglect. This lecture is a tribute to a career in emergency medicine and describes the journey which led him to this point. \nAbout Dr. Sunil Mangal: \nDr. Sunil Mangal was born in Kenya but grew up in Alberta. He graduated from University of Alberta Medical School in 1994 and went on to complete his residency in Family Medicine at Dalhousie University in 1998. Throughout his career\, Dr Mangal’s practice focused on Emergency medicine and he worked in many hospitals across Canada from coast to coast- from Prince Edward Island to Tofino\, British Columbia. Ultimately\, he learned to call Vancouver his home and St. Paul’s Emergency Department became his second family. In 2009\, he took on the role of the “Scheduler” for both St. Paul’s and Mount St. Joseph’s Emergency Department- a role which Dr Mangal held until this year.
